McCall, Idaho 8/6 - 8/12

When you travel this beautiful Country, with beautiful sights like this one, the journey is just as much fun as the destination!

We are in a beautiful campground site facing the river.  Here is the view from the window in front . . .

. . .  and out the side window!

We have really enjoyed watching the deer in the area that are so used to humans they walk right by.  There are also loads of birds.  The upper right photo is a flock of red winged black birds enjoying the grass in front of the RV.

Sadly, there are fires nearby and the view of the mountains is definitely impeded by the smoke.  To provide a basis for comparison: here is a photo from our visit in June of 2017.

Naturally all the snow is gone by August, but here is one of the best views now.  We had one windy day where you could not even see the outline of the mountains.

Always something interesting to see - we had some water boarders float right by us!

There is a beautiful private golf course in the area called White Tail.  We took a discovery tour of the community but they didn't offer us an option to play the course.  This is the community club house that is right on the lake.  Sadly, they have no planned activities and the social membership as well as the lot and house prices just don't match the value they offer.  But it was interesting!

We have been to McCall numerous times so we have played all the area courses.  One of the warmer evenings we enjoyed golf and dinner at McCall Golf Club.  They had a six piece band playing while we sat outside under the sail.  At 5000 feet the warm weather is not so bad!!

We are right near the airport and we get to see the large helicopters come in and out with the huge buckets they use to fight the fires.

We may be traveling all over the US, but we never know who we are going to run into!!  Long time friends from Palm Creek, Skip and Patsy were just a few sites down from us.  They invited us to a group happy hour at Fred and Sharon's site.  But, I forgot to take a photo.  We did go play golf and have dinner with Skip and Patsy, Fred and Sharon, and a new couple: Helen and Jim.  The other ladies didn't play so I was the only lady playing golf, but we enjoyed the golf, the dinner and the camaraderie!!!

Thankfully, the amazing fire fighters got the fires under control and before we left our view was once again crisp and clear!!

That's it for a nice relaxing week in cool and comfortable McCall, Idaho.  Now its on to Caldwell, Idaho.
