It was not a museum we would normally seek out, but The Museum of Clean was rated as the number one "Things to Do" in Pocatello.
We were not impressed with the displays of times like vacuum cleaners and cleaning products.
But, Mark did successfully persist in getting a sponge into the toilet seat!!
When we get to a new location we always check out the local happenings. We bought tickets for "The Piano Guys" at the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheater. The show went from daylight to dusk to darkness. It was a beautiful evening to relax on a blanket and listen to the music.
The Museum of Clean was not a hit, but as we are in Idaho, how could we pass up the Potato Museum???
Good news - It was better than the Museum of Clean. Best part was we got to meet Miss Idaho!!
On the RV Park map of Idaho, the line of totality for the Solar Eclipse was clearly marked and as luck would have it, it was close by. So we did what seemed like the perfect plans to view an eclipse. We booked a tee time at a golf course located in the line of totality!!
We got to the golf course early and we frequently put on our eclipse glasses to check the progress
At every hole before we tee off we would put on our glasses and check the progress of the moon as it started its path over the sun.
Using our little point and shoot camera was a lot better than the I-phone but the shots of the moon progressing over the sun did not come out nearly as well as those you can find on the internet. However, here is the wondrous sight of totality!!
Mark in front of the 9th hole while we were at totality
And the same hole a few minutes after totality!!
Looking at the temperature on my golf watch you can see how totality dropped the temperature!!
We cannot begin to describe what an amazing experience it is to watch the moon progress over the sun until it is completely centered on it. It was definitely an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives!!
We had lots of time after golf and decided to go to the Idaho Museum of Science. The bad news was that the NASA exhibit was not as good as expected.
But Idaho knows how to roll out the welcome mat with big boxes of free "taters!"
We thought we had killed the time needed for the traffic to clear but boy were we wrong!! It took us four hours to make the one hour trip back to Pocatello. But we have no doubts that seeing the eclipse from the line of totality was more than worth it!!
Now, its on to Kemmerer, Wyoming!!
