Deer Park/ Spokane July 1 - August 2

We started July with an outing to Twigg's Restaurant with our Spokane RV Park friends to celebrate our neighbor, Dean's birthday.

Anita, Dean, Steve, Mark, Me, Cathy, Carol, Jim
The next day Cathy and Steve hosted a sourdough pancake breakfast at their beautiful site.  But, I forgot to get a photo.  Here is a photo of the view from their amazing RV site!

We ventured to Liberty Lake to add our 330th unique golf course to our 9 year list.  While we were there we had dinner at Hay J's.  Not much from the outside but inside was beautiful and the food was unique and delicious.  And, the words on the wall could not have said it any better!!

We were invited for a boat ride at nearby Sacheen Lake with Mark's Deer Park Golf buddy, Brad.  It was an extremely windy day and the boat had a problem so we stayed inside and enjoyed Diane's delicious appetizers.  I have to go to Costco to find the mango stilton cheese she served!!  Diane also shared some of her beautiful herbs.  I put the lavender in with some carnations and the rest of the herbs found a home on the kitchen counter.  It was great fun!

Friends from Palm Creek, Bernie and Joan, took a drive down from Calgary and joined us for 10 days.  As soon as they arrived we were on the golf course for an evening 9 hole round!!  Evidently, I didn't get the memo about wearing orange so I took the photo.

We went golfing at Chewelah, a beautiful course covered with trees.  After golf, we had dinner at the club restaurant.  With this amazing background we had to pose for a  "we were there" photo.

The day before my birthday I celebrated with my great girlfriends Joan and Cathy at Twiggs and then on to a plethora of shopping.  The three of us had one great day!!

We celebrated my birthday at the Klaus campsite.  From appetizers to steak on the grill to birthday cake and a gift (beautiful bracelet on my right arm middle photo), they made it a memorable event!!

My birthday turned into a birthday week celebration!!  On the day after my birthday Mark took everyone out to lunch at my favorite, Cavanaugh's on Priest Lake.  Food photo shows prime rib sliders topped with fried onion and an Artisan pizza with olives.  After lunch, we played Priest Lake Golf Course. It was another fabulous day.

Never a dull moment with the Klaus' in town.  Its off to Eleven Acres farm in Green Bluff for some berry picking.  The blackberries had not fully ripened, so we headed off to pick blueberries and finally, a bonanza of raspberries that were as sweet as sugar!!  Here are some photos showing the proud pickers displaying their harvests.

Then it was on to High Point Orchard for lunch and desserts.  We ordered ice cream for dessert, and Mark, the coffee lover, had to try the Affagato.  it was amazing!!  But, I had to get Mark a cherry scone and me a lemon tart to go.  My birthday week just keeps going!

As we were in the neighborhood, we took a ride out to Arbor Crest Cellars for some wine tasting.  We just loved the wine glass holder for the flights!  Bernie got a great beer and Joan liked the wine flight so much she and Mark shared a second flight!!  We all enjoyed the great views from their perch on the mountain top.

We couldn't let the Klaus' leave without playing the beautiful Idaho Club golf course in Sandpoint.  We started with breakfast at Spuds Waterfront Grill.

Due to the difficulty of this course, we played a four person scramble.   Mark and Bernie had a contest to see who had the biggest divot as the course was so soft.  But, I think the highlight for Bernie was finding dozens of balls in the deep weeds.  He has four in his hand in the photo below.  We ended the day with a fun dinner at Baxter's on Main in Sandpoint, Idaho.

My birthday week was capped off with a "two for one" coupon at Deer Park golf course.  This was followed by a great happy hour. I arrived late with a Trader Joe's Greek 5 cheese spiral added to lots of other goodies.

But that's it for my birthday week because its August 1st and Mark's 60th birthday!!  We played golf at Chewelah, one of Mark's favorites, and celebrated with dinner at one of Mark's new favorite restaurant, ChewVino.  Joan and Bernie never let an opportunity for a celebration go to waste!  They decorated the "Party Cart" with a Birthday Banner and Balloon.

At Chewvino, a local Chewelah wine bar and restaurant, we enjoyed some great wine (and beer for Bernie).  We all marveled at the beautiful presentation of the humus platter (right photo).  Joan and Bernie gave him the best present, an automatic pepper grinder.

We had to order a piece of birthday cake dessert complete with a candle!

Phew!!  We made it through July and extended our stay until August 2nd so Mark would not have to drive on his birthday.  But its time to start the adventure part of our Summer Tour so its off to Hamilton MT.
