St. George, Utah May 1- 26

After 5 National Parks, Mark and I are "rocked" out! After hiking Zion National Park, we headed out to St. George, Utah at the very Southwestern tip of the State. We needed some time that did not have a lot of "hiking the rocks." While checking into the RV park we met some new friends and tennis buddies, Marge and Lou. We enjoyed some time together on the St. George tennis courts as well as some wonderful dinners together.

Our visit to St. George was focused mainly on tennis and golf. We found some great tennis clinics, and round robins as well as manage to check out five new golf courses. Mark even scored a 73 and eagled a par 5 hole!!! After you get over some tough lies (it was harder getting to this ball than hitting it), you get to enjoy the incredible mountain views. Shown below are the views from The Ledges, (Mark hitting the ball) where they have GPS in the carts - what fun, and Sky Mountain (me hitting the ball). You do learn that even the ugly, prickly cactus on the golf course has a beautiful bloom!

But, we were near the Pine Valley Mountains so we did get in at least one hike up Signal Peak. The total elevation is 10,365 feet but we only hiked through to a beautiful mountain stream, enjoyed lunch amongst the tall pines and decided we would enjoy the rest of the mountain in the majestic views visible from all of St. George.

St. George also has lots of bike paths and Mark did get in one good ride. This was a great stop to catch our breath, get some preventive maintenance on the car and the RV and get ready for out next leg, Pahrump, Nevada and Death Valley National Park.
