The State does an excellent job in managing this park. The Big Room tour is closed when the bats are in residence. We did the Throne Room tour that is open year round. The passageways were cleared using tools like this one.
We grabbed a quick lunch at the "Bat Cave Café and then headed to our tour.
The entrance to the caverns has a blower at the entrance to remove as much dust and lint as possible from your apparel. We walked through and marveled at the beauty of the stalactites and stalagmites.
The highlight of the tour for us was when they filed us into this bench seating with nothing visible in front of this area.
The seating area lights dim, the calming music starts and the six story high "Kubla Khan" formation starts to light up. You have to be there to get a true perspective on this massive formation!
We were very impressed with the quality of the operations and excellent tour we were given by a volunteer. In fact, most of the employees are volunteers. Great job Arizona!
While we were close by we took a drive out to Deadwood, AZ. This town has really embraced the concept of tourism. This stage coach gives you a tour of the area.
Big Nose Kate's Saloon was closed for remodeling so we had to settle for dining at the Crystal Palace.
The streets have cowboys roaming around - its set to give you a feel of what life was like in the old west.
