Kansas City - August 18 - 26

We stopped in our old stomping grounds near Kansas City.  We made a trip to Garmin's headquarters where we upgraded a couple of our Garmin devices.  I got a new golf sports watch.  We then took a drive through downtown Kansas City.  Boy, has it grown.  We were really impressed with the "Power and Light District."  As we drove past Union Station we decided to take the opportunity to pay a visit.

The renovated train station is as stunning as it is massive.

While at Union Station, we enjoyed the 3D movie "National Park Adventure."  However, we thought they missed some of the best parts of our outstanding National Parks!

We found an outstanding exhibit of toy trains.

All of the trains were running.  Some took off when another train pulled up and stopped beside them.  And there were lots of local landmark reproductions like this one of Union Station.

We walked to the nearby train yard where the old historic buildings have been renovated into upscale restaurants.  We decided instead of going to one of our old favorites, Lydia's, we tried Grunauer, a German style restaurant.  We were not disappointed.  This is one amazing strudel!!

Mark took the opportunity to catch up with some old friends.  He got to play tennis with John Golob and have lunch with Kevin Sprizer.  But he did not get any photos.  He did however get a photo of the guys in his Fraternity Alumni Investment Club meeting at Top Golf.

We tried a new RV park that was not too far from Mark's sister Paulette.  We got a chance to enjoy a dinner with Paulette and Chris at Lucille's that is known for its chicken tenderloin.  They had a two for one special and you can see just how much they provide in one serving!

We also had a fun visit with Mark's niece Kayla and her two beautiful children: Vivian and Macoy. Vivian showed us how well she can ride this amazing unicorn she got from Mark's brother Mike and Shelia.

Macoy entertained us with his crazy crawling and his voracious appetite.

Mark showed Vivian what a crazy teaser her Grand Uncle Mark is!  But this one is giving him "the look!"

But I got the best seat in the house, a nice snuggle with cute little Viv.

We made a quick stop in Mark's hometown of Frontenac, KS. Mark's brother Mike came over to visit with us in the RV.  One night we had a Chicken Annie's feast at Mark's mom's house with Mike, Shelia, Vanessa and Brian. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo.

It was a fun stop but its time to get back on the road and head to Arkansas.
