The Kansas City Royals come to Surprise, Arizona every year for Spring Training. We invited Kansas City fans, Joyce and Lloyd Woods to join us to see a game. The Royals did not win, but we had a great time. That's me in my new Royals "Spring training" cap with Joyce beside me.
Its March and once again we enjoyed the ever popular Hopbush block party hosted by Jim and Cappy Townsend. Here is Mark competing in the ladder golf competition. Bernie, in his signature orange shirt is going for a jello shot as he just lost another jello shot challenge point. We were all totally entertained by these two! The next photo shows us enjoying the plates full of the great pot luck offerings!
As soon as grandparent's day was done my son picked us up and we headed to their house in Tahoe for the weekend. We made a great stop for lunch at Fenton's. Lunch was great but dessert was amazing. I was overwhelmed with a petite scoop of their coffee cookie dream ice cream. It was so huge Chase (to the left of her Dad) had to help me by eating all of the Oreos mixed into the ice cream!! Molly came down after she finished work and brought all the animals: two dogs, one guinea pig, one bunny and two rats!!
It was towards the end of the season but the runs were open for skiing. My son serves on the ski patrol here.
My granddaughters are growing fast. Here is a photo in front of Jason's and you can see that Avery is already taller than I am and Chase is quickly gaining on me!
We had a wonderful time at Gar Woods Easter Brunch. Mark and I loved this restaurant when we visited Tahoe so it was great fun to go back!
My Dad, step mother Marlene, Beth, Greg and Eddie Ray were making a trip to San Francisco on April 5th. Instead of sitting around San Francisco waiting 10 days for them to arrive, I flew back to Arizona on 3/27 and flew back to San Francisco on 4/7 and surprised them at the airport!! I wish I thought to take a photo of the looks on their faces.
My son, Nate, helped me design a wine tasting extravaganza for us. First stop was the Francis Ford Coppola Winery. We had great fun touring all of the memorabilia from his Oscar winning films. Molly my daughter-in-law was in one but sadly her acting only made it to the cutting room floor. At the wine tasting we were told that one of the wines went perfectly with the rack of lamb at the restaurant. So, after the wine tasting we went to the restaurant for lunch. A great view of the vineyards, a perfect day for patio dining and some delicious foods made for a wonderful lunch experience at Coppola.
Next stop Ferraro-Carrano. One of the prettiest vinyards with stunning gardens.
A picture I will treasure is this shot of me and my dad in the gardens.
Last stop was a household name winery, Kendall-Jackson. It was the easiest wine tasting because we all just sat around a table and they brought the different wines out to us.
On my last night, we enjoyed a dinner at Nate and Molly's. Here is one special photo of my 92 year old Dad watching his great granddaughter play the piano.
Back at Palm Creek, most everyone on the street had started their journey home. We kept the tradition of playing an end of season round of golf with the Townsends and headed out to Ocotillo. We also enjoyed a great lunch at the scenic restaurant.
Our winter hiatus has come to an end and its time to hit the road to experience our 2016 Seeing America Tour. We frequently get to experience this beautiful Joshua Tree Forest on our way to St. George, Utah.
