There always seems to be something interesting while we are on the road. We just happened to see a large sign for the White Bird Battlefield - Nez Perce National Historic Park. The Native Americans had 17 million acres of land in this area. The Treaty of 1865 gave them a small portion of that land for their reservation. However, gold was discovered and the treaty was quickly forgotten. At this site in 1877 the opening battle was won by the Native Americans with over 100 cavalrymen being wiped out.
We're back at Spokane RV Resort in Deer Park, WA for a month stay. You can see just how beautiful our sites was - especially with our addition of the flowers in the pot.
But what makes it extra special is that this site is right in front of the green on the 8th hole!! We would start playing on #9, and after we putted in on #8 we took the few steps right to our RV! The price for nine holes was $11!! That's Mark's golf bag beside the green and our site straight in front!
One Saturday night they had two ladies come and entertain us. I have to say that these two were undeniably amazing!! Their closing was a medley of Its a Grand Old Flag, God Bless America and America the Beautiful. At the end everyone was standing with tears in their eyes. I wish I had gotten their names so I could look for them in the future.
We went to the INB Performing Arts Center in downtown Spokane to see the talented Harry Connick, Jr. in concert. He sang, he played the piano, the trumpet, the flute, told great stories, and wrote many of the songs. You can't take photos, but here are some that capture the beautiful view from the windows of the INB Performing Arts Center and from our front row seats on the balcony.
In addition to doing lots of water aerobics, even one time in the rain, we played many rounds of golf. I won quarters from all the players during the Friday RV park golf event for a "chip in" on our last day. Mark won a few times at Men's league.
But, the highlight of the stop was meeting new friends, Anita and Dean Johnson. It's such a small world. We're at a happy hour, talking about our Palm Creek neighbors, Angie and Frank. Anita immediately show's us a photo on her phone of Angie and Frank's son, Mike. Dean and Anita are Mike's neighbors and Anita's son was in Mike's wedding!! We were invited to join in on Dean's birthday celebration at the local "Salty Dog" restaurant.
