After we quickly put the boat in the water from a very efficient public launch we were off...
First stop, the most famous house on Lake Washington...Bill Gates'. According to Angie and Frank it took years to build and the Gates family is never there. Also, with all the trees you can never really see it but it goes beyond either end of this photo! But it is a pretty site from the water.
Seattle has a bridge that actually floats. It is secured at both ends but the middle floats!
We passed beautiful homes...
... and an amazing location for a University...what a view from the University of Washington Stadium!
But how can you visit the Seattle Area without the view of the landmark Space Needle (opened in 1962 at a World's Fair)...
...and the floating houses made famous in the movie "Sleepless in Seattle!"
We drove from Lake Washington to Lake Union up to the locks that let the boats float out from the Puget Sound to the Pacific Ocean with Frank driving, Mark riding side kick and Angie giving site by site input from the back seat.
Angie, the best hostess in town, provided cheese they smoked themselves, summer sausage, watermelon and big sweet strawberries to make sure we did not starve on board. Here we are near the area to enter the locks with our mouth's full, enjoying every minute.
All good things must come to an end, but we did get treated to magnificent views of Mount Baker (10,781 feet) as it appears to literally float over Lake Washington.
There is so much more to see in this great State. We are now off to Birch Bay, Washington.
