ALABAMA - Dozier, Headland, Cottonwood/Dothan 4-11 to 4-16

These Alabama stops are just short stays on our way to Brunswick, GA.  First, just have to share our new favorite fuel stop - "Buc ees."  They don't allow trucks but it is just perfect for RVs.  The station is huge with loads of space and aisles and aisles of fuel pumps.  Loads of Buc ees in Texas.  We luckily caught this one on our way out of Gulf Shores, AL.  Diesel was $2.59 and it was a super easy stop!!

Our first stop was in Dozier, AL.  We walked this golf  course and made it off just before it started raining.  But, we got to enjoy a beautiful double rainbow!

Could not get the full double rainbow but, this is the first time we have ever seen a full rainbow from horizon to horizon!

We stayed in an RV park that was off the beaten path (Cypress Landing) but we enjoyed this view of the lake from our RV!

We always take a trip to the downtown area as we generally find an interesting place to eat.  In Dozier, we found Mike's steak house.  We just had to order "The Big Mike," a 24 oz. Ribeye!!  We got it Steak Smothered - that is topped with herb butter, caramelized onion and sautéed mushrooms!  The dessert was bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream and a caramel glaze!  YUM!!

We made a quick stop in Heartland and pulled into Todd Farm RV park.  Todd Farm also has a restaurant that was conveniently opened for lunch!!  What a bonus when we found out that the owner was a huge fan of The Andy Griffith Show!!  We learned that in the opening credits Opie could not get the stone into the lake so they had someone off screen actually throw the stone!!

Lunch was wonderful - Mark had a chicken salad croissant and I had a chicken salad BLT.  I have to say those tater tots where the best ever.  We saved the desserts: Lemon Tart and Caramel Cake for later!!

We had quite a unique view from our spot at Todd Farms!

Then it was on to Cottonwood near Dothan, Alabama.  We ran into a unique sight, a white squirrel!!  He even posed!

The RV Park in Cottonwood, Hidden Hollow, had great sites and a full coffee bar. They also put out baskets of snacks for breakfast (shown below) and differ3ent one for afternoon snacks.

Sunday was the final day of The Masters golf tournament.  It was very rainy with strong winds so we took advantage of the clubhouse TV area.  What a perfect solution as the satellite image in the RV would get blurred during the worst of the storm.  It was such fun to watch Tiger win yet another Green Jacket!!

That's it for Alabama.  Now we are on to Georgia!!
