Saint George, Utah - September 1- October 8

As always, we enjoy the journeys as well as the destinations.  The rock formations in Utah are strikingly stunning.  When we started out the clouds were so low that we were literally driving through the clouds.  But pretty soon the sun came out so we could enjoy the scenery.

There is just something very special about the rocks and the views in Utah.  A great example is the scenery at Sandhollow Resort golf course.  The contrast between the deep green of the grass and the orange of the rock is just striking.

The bunkers are also filled with the orangy sand and some of the sides of the bunkers get quite high and difficult to hit out of!

One of the most beautiful holes is the par 3 hole #13.  Here we are on the cart path by the tee box.  You can see the green on the right side just past the rock outcropping on the right.  There is a huge canyon between the tee box and the green.

Sometimes you just get a bad lie and we have to take my drive!  Just to the left side of Mark there is a huge drop off!!!

The rock formations are just amazing and remind me of a cross between Deadhorse State Park and Bryce Canyon.

Mark has seven nieces and one nephew, Lee Michael Costello, whose wedding we attended.  A good time was had by all and it was a great opportunity to see the family all together again.

While we were in Saint George,  we took advantage of the local Tuachan Theater's production of "Aladdin, The Musical" and "Hairspray."  The Tuachan Theater is unique in that the back of the stage are the mountains of the Snow Canyon State Park.

For those of you who have never had the opportunity to go to Tuachan, I have to share with you the beautiful entrance.  The side walk has this beautiful stream that rolls down from the entrance to the theater all the way down the sidewalk to the last row of the parking lot.

You finally see the start of the water flow when you climb the steps at the entrance to the theater.

There are no photos allowed during the shows.  Alladin had the most amazing staging with Jasmin and Alladin flying over the audience, a 3D movie of the treasure trove in the Cave had all the kids reaching for the lamp as it seemed to jump out of the theater, and pyrotechnics that were used throughout the play.  But, I did get a photo of these three adorable sisters who came to see Jasmine.

While we were in Saint George we enjoyed many of the activities this City offers.

Mark and I went to quite a few tennis clinics at the Tonaquint Tennis Complex.  Mark also went to Cardio Tennis and two nights a week he went to Live Ball tennis.  Here's Mark picking up tennis balls with their very efficient ball machine - works like a lawnmower and deposits the balls into a tray.  One of the benefits of staying at Templeview RV park is that Mark can ride his bike on a great bike trail to the tennis center.  Then, I have the car to go to...

...the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center for water aerobics.  I became a huge fan of Deep Water aerobics.  You wear a flotation belt so you are never touching bottom giving you full range of motion and you can use your water weights at the same time as your hands are free.  The aquatic center has two enormous pools and provided some great workouts.

One day Mark looked out the window and said, that's Larry Marik from Palm Creek's tennis club.  Once again, we bumped into friends along the way.  We enjoyed a "Palm Creek Style" happy hour with Larry and Mary Ann and we also met Mike and Diane who are in Saint George for the annual marathon.  Mike, injured in Afghanistan, rides a recumbent style bicycle in the marathon and Diane rides along with him.

We were scheduled to stay one month in Saint George but with all the amazing golf, tennis, aqua fitness, canyoneering combined with the visit to Zion and other trips we extended for one more week.  Its now time to move on but we truly enjoyed every minute of one fabulous stop in Saint George, Utah.
