We wanted to find an RV park close to San Francisco without going into the city. We decided on Rio Viento. I should have known as Viento in spanish means winds, but we were not quite ready for this much wind!
There is a huge Wind Enegry Park right behind the campground...
...and on the other side of the road into the Campground is the Sacramento River and lots of wind surfers...
... its really fun to watch these guys actually jump into the air as they speed across the river.
But the real site to see on this course is their signature hole - yup you guessed it - an island green!
But the highlight of the stop for me was, without a doubt, a visit by my two beautiful granddaughters, Avery (age 9) and Chase (age 7). Avery is in the third grade and she just got glasses for seeing at a distance.
They loved the fact that it was very windy - they just pulled the bubble wand out and ..voila...loads of bubbles!
They really enjoyed RVing and we did lots of stuff - we had, per Avery "the best grilled cheese sandwiches, ever", we made bead bracelets - even some for Chase's bunny, we went out for dinner at Chase's favorite - Fresh Choice and we even watched the movie, Mr. Poppers Penguins!
We did not do any site seeing in San Francisco as Mark and I have both been there many times, but we did go over the Golden Gate Bridge right before the 75th anniversary fireworks.
As we were in the area we did get to San Jose to visit Mark's sister Trish and her twin daughter's Hailey and Harmony who just graduated from Babson. We had a wonderful lunch poolside joined by the girl's cousin Sam. But, I forgot to snap a photo :(
Its time to hit the road - next stop - Red Bluff, California
