We stopped in Highpoint NC on our way to the Freightliner Headquarters in Gaffney, SC. We were pleasantly surprised by a City Campground with this picturesque view out of the RV window.
We also enjoyed the municipal county golf course with holes like this.
We also tried out the clay tennis courts - very impressive for a county facility. But, sadly, I have no photo of the courts.
Our next stop was Gaffney, S.C for our two day "Camp Freightliner" class on the chassis of our RV. I just had to take a photo of "The Peach" - Mark's nickname for me! Gaffney, S.C. is known for its peaches. Too bad that we were there after the season was over and missed out on their delicious peaches.
We spent two full days in class and we were "blown away" by how much we did not know. But, now we are familiar with our chassis from the back ...
... up to the front
An example of the things we learned was how to create a device so that we can fill the RV tires from our on board compressor. Believe it or not we were both very impressed with ourselves for being able to find all the parts and put it together!
While we were in Gaffney, SC we took the opportunity to visit the factory for a tour. We were, once again, not allowed to take photos. It was fascinating to learn they start the chassis upside down and mid way through the assembly line they turn the complete chassis over. It was quite a site watching a 45 foot chassis with an engine and transmission attached, completely turn over!
It is time to move on, but an added bonus traveling in the fall is the roadside beauty in full display.
Next stop a visit to our Palm Creek friends Tom and Ann at their beautiful Georgia home...can't wait!!!
